Qasas Multimedia International

James A. Lumpkin, III aka StJamesIII (or just Jimmy)
I’m James A. Lumpkin III, professionally known as St James III (or just Jimmy). I’m a Washington, D.C. based digital developer, creative technologist, and multimedia producer with nearly three decades of experience at the intersection of web technology, media, and culture.
QASAS began as a creative outlet and evolved into a full-service digital studio long before “digital-first” became a buzzword.
Early Web Pioneer Roots
My introduction to the web dates back to 1994, prior to the commercial explosion of the internet in the United States. At the time, my mother worked for U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, who became the first member of Congress to launch an official website. Seeing the internet used as a public-facing communication tool, combined with emerging coverage in early tech publications, sparked my interest in what would become a lifelong discipline.

Shortly thereafter, publications like VIBE Magazine began establishing an online presence. Inspired, I started building web pages independently and became involved in early online community engagement, including informally moderating Vibe Magazine chat sessions that introduced artists, producers, and media figures to the internet for the first time.

From Urban Radio to National Media
In 1996, I began developing websites professionally. My first client was Washington, D.C. radio personality EZ Street, for whom I created the first website for a mainstream Black Radio DJ in the local market. That collaboration continues to this day.
Through that work, we also helped pioneer early live internet streaming in urban radio only months after ESPN SportsZone streamed the first live radio broadcast online. Artists participating in these early streams included Jay-Z, Montell Jordan, The LOX and Ma$e, at a time when the medium itself was still experimental.
As word spread, I went on to develop websites and digital assets for much of the on-air lineup at 93.9 WKYS-FM, including nationally syndicated radio host and filmmaker Russ Parr, another long-standing collaborator.
This period marked the beginning of my work with high-profile clients after forming a professional association with Priscilla Clarke of Clarke & Associates, where I served as one of the firm’s associates.
Through that relationship, I began providing creative and digital services for a range of prominent clients and organizations, a professional association that continues to this day, including Shaquille O’Neal, Robert Townsend, The O’Jays, The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and the Greater Washington Urban League, among others across music, film, sports, and television.
A comprehensive showcase of this archived work will be available in the Legacy Projects section of this site launching Summer 2026.
